అందరికి వినాయక చవితి శుభాకాంక్షలు. పూజ కు వుపయోగించే పవిత్ర మైన మొక్కల గురించి తెలియ జేయాలన్న ఆశ తో చేసే ప్రయత్నం ఇది.  .చిత్రం క్రింద దాని సమాచారం సంక్షిప్తం గా ఇవ్వడం జరిగింది. పత్రిని అమ్మే వారు శాస్త్రము లో చెప్పినవి కాక వారికి దొరికినవి తెచ్చి అమ్ముతున్నారు. అటువంటి మొక్కల వలన కొన్ని రకాల అల్లెర్జిలు రావడానికి అవకాశం వుంది. .

A.pallense(Family: Asteraceae) (దవనం)A.Small aromatic herb.

Artmisia indica/ A.vulgaris మాచ పత్రి 

Plant name: (Sanskrit) Machi patram (Telugu)(Machapatri)*–Botanical name:Artmisia indica (మాచ పత్రి )
Medicinal Use: Aromatic, tonic, anti malarial & digestive.
In some versions it is "Davanam", in others it is "Maacha patri" Any of these plants may be used. Both have anti insecticidal properties.

Medicinal Use:Fruit pulp to control motions, anti diabetic, coolant. Commonly found in temples.

Nerium indicum గన్నేరు 

Botanical name: Thevetia neerifolia/Cascabela thevitia(Family:Apocyanaceae)
Some versions indicated that Nerium indicum should be used  as it is an Indian plant. Where as Cascabela thevitia is a native of S.America. Both belong to the family Apocyanaceae. Both are poisonous.
Medicinal Use:Diuretic, for heart diseases,poisonous in high doses A shrub found in siva temples.

Erythroxylum monogynum దేవదారు 

In South India where Cedrus is not available, Erytroxylum is used . It is available in scrub forests.

వినాయకుడికి వెలగ పండు ప్రీతి కరమని భావిస్తారు. కానిదీన్నిపత్రి లో ఉపయోగించరు Since the patri sold in the market contains some weeds which are allergic to humans; Eg. Instead of machipatram, Pitchimachapatri or the congress grass – Parthenium hysterophorus is sold.
Celebrate the festival in a an Environmentally friendly way. Since I am a Botany lecturer I have provided the images I got from my camera. This is to educate the unconcerned people on Nature.
